The Nandi Awards for the year 2008 were given away on Ugadi (March 17, 2010) at a function in Lalitha Kala Thoranam. The CM Rosaiah, and the Minister For Information & Broadcasting J Geeta Reddy were present at the ceremony.
The Chief Minister, in his address to the glittering gathering, said the government would resolve the piracy problem plaguing the film industry. He said film makers who spent lots of money in their productions were facing losses because of piracy.

Winners were finalised by 14 committee members and approved by the Chief Minister K Rosaiah.
Eminent yesteryear heroine Jamuna won the NTR National Film Award. The B N Reddy National Film Award was given to renowned director K B Tilak, while the Nagi Reddy-Chakrapani National Film Award went to producer A Ramesh Prasad. Actress-director Vijayanirmala received the Raghupathi Venkaiah award.
Jamuna, who won a cash prize of Rs. 5 lakhs along with a citation and memento, wsaid she would donate Rs. 1 lakh to the CM's Relief Fund. The other 3 received Rs. 2 lakhs each along with a memento and a citation.
