Nandi Awards are the awards presented annually in Andhra Pradesh for Telugu cinema by State government. This year the awards were given for the movies that were released in 2008. The awards were presented by Chief Minister K. Rosaiah.
Ravi Teja won the Best Actor award for Neninte, while Swati bagged the Best Actress award for her role in ‘Ashta Chamma'. ‘Gamyam' was awarded as the Best Film while its director J. Radhakrishna got the Best Director award. Sonu Sood won the Best Villain award (Arundhati) and the actress of the film, Anushka got a Special Jury award.
At the occasion, Chief Minister K. Rosaiah expressed his concern on growing rate of piracy of films and claimed that serious actions will be taken by the government to stop it.
